THE F. G.CALDERON INTEGRATED SCHOOL
HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
HISTORY
The four-storey rectangular-shaped concrete building now known as Felipe G. Calderon Integrated School is the answer to the felt need of accommodating the elementary graduates of the school and of serving more youths and parents in the community.
Initially, the school year 1976-1977, the school enrolled 578 high school freshmen only under the direct supervision of r. Angelina Gue as principal.
In the school year 1977-1978, the High School Department opened second year classes, thus, the enrollment increased to 1,171. The school likewise, acquired the services of 23 more high school teachers with Mrs. Opano, who later transferred to Araullo High School was replaced by Miss Rebecca Nava, January 1978.
By school year 1978-1979, Ms. Rosario Esteban assumed the position of assistant principal when Miss Nava transferred to another school. In 1970-1980, the assistant principal assigned at F. G. Calderon Integ. School, High school Department, was Nieves Guerrero.
The school opened its doors to third year students during the school year 1980-1981. The population rose to 1,525. Dr. Gue retired and was succeeded by Ms. Emiliana S. Olandez in June 2, 1980. Dr. Eden Diaz, likewise became the assistant principal from June to February, 1981.
The high school population further increased to 2,024 during the school year 1982-1983 and to 2,121 in 1983-198. A series of changes in the appointees were made in the position of assistant principal. After the term of Mr. Emmanuel Kempis was the appointment of Dr. Alegria Armas (October- December,1981); Mr. Olegario Sevilla (January, 1982- May 1983); Ms. Leonor Buencosojo (June - September ,1983) and Ms. Adoracion Acuna (October, 1983-June, 1984).
With the retirement of Ms. Olandez in 1984, came two new administrators for the school year 1984-1985. Mr. Santiago C. Paredes, the new principal, came from Rosauro Almario Elementary School, while the new assistant principal, Mr. Discord G. Vasquez, a former school paper adviser, came from Araullo High School.
Mr. Paredes who arrived in July 1984, retired in July 25, 1989 while Mr. Vasquez who arrived in November 1984 transferred to Don Mariano Marcos High School in June 1988.
Enrollment slightly increased every year with the exception of school year 1987-1988 which registered a slight decrease: school year 1984-1985; 1985-1986, 2,239; 1987-1988, 2,318; 1988-1989, 2,457 ; 1989-1990, 2,537.
June of school year 1988-1989 saw the rise of a P1.3 M building constructed in the former playground and garden left side of the entrance. The construction started October 15,1987.
The P1.3 M fund which was used in the construction of the school building came from the National Capital Region through the efforts of Mr. Paredes. The said budget, however, did not include the construction of the windows and the glass panes.
The money used for the construction of the windows came from the sales of the lunch counter while the glass panes were donated by Dr. Ofelia Viray, F. G. Calderon Integ.School, Elem. Department teacher.
The new two-storey building somehow eased congestion in the classroom because it has three rooms on the second floor, another three rooms on the first floor and two comfort rooms.
Each classroom measures 6x8 meters and accommodates 40-45 pupils and therefore lessened the overcrowding. Classes in the elementary were transferred to the new building and the new rooms they vacated were used by the Practical Arts classes.
Again, the first phase of construction of a new structure in the quadrangle was completed in the school year 1989-1990. This is the P 2 M multi-purpose building which is 820.8 square meters in area and 12 meters in height. This building can be used as a gymnasium, a venue for programs, meeting and as a waiting shed. It has a roof and will be enclosed in grills.
The second phase of the construction will consists of the elevation of the flooring to the two feet, renovation of the stage, construction of a dressing room and a room for the sound system.
During the school year 1986-1987, Mrs. Carmelita B. Samson, a Social Studies teacher of Torres High School became the Department Head of the Social Studies Dept., replacing Ms. Teresa Miralles who transferred to Jose Abad Santos High School. A new librarian in the person of Ms. Carol Leynes, arrived filling up the post left by Mrs. Flor Dominado.
The school year 1989-1990 marked a milestone of progress and changes in the school. The high school department now has a complete line up of Department Heads.
Also, with the retirement of Mr. Paredes, a principal, Mr. Loreto V. Cruz assumed office as the new principal on July 27,1989. Mr. Cruz was the former principal of Emilio Jacinto Elem. School. Hand in hand in the supervision of the High School Department is Mrs. Paz H. Regala as the officer-in-charge because the transfer of Mr. Vasquez no assistant principal has yet been assigned to the High School Department.

Hernandez, replaced Ms. Leticia E. Manzo who retired in 1989; Mr. Gene T. Pangilinan replaced Mr. Ruben Yadao who is connected with the Technological University of the Philippines.
